TATTOOS

In our society today we have different views on tattoos and the culture of it. People use to think that tattoos were just a gang thing and that was how they showed what gangs they were in and proved brotherhood. Nowadays most people are much more accepting of people having tattoos because it is  a way of showing their views and beliefs and also a way to express themselves. Even though this is true there are still people that think they are unneeded and not necessary and sometimes disrespectful. Even with people being more accepting of tattoos, people are still afraid of it and often take other people with them to get tattoos, because they aren't use to the culture so they want someone to be there and support them and it makes them feel more comfortable.

Celebrity vs Average Person

There are many differences between celebrities and the average person, and yes the main difference people think about is money. Celebrities are very rich and often millionaires, whereas the average person makes around $30,000 to $40,000. Another big difference is that celebrities are constantly being watched. Celebrities constantly have people taking pictures, or taking videos and asking questions, or watching everything they do on social media and the news. Everyone wants to know what they are doing and constantly make assumptions about them and judge them only because they are well known, but with this also comes people that think they should get away with different things because they are rich and famous.

Pros and Cons of Tech

One of the pros of using Technology is that it has made it much easier to communicate with people around the world and even people close to you. We are now able to text, call, and even Skype or facetime with people and this can help us work on projects, grow businesses, and do many other tasks that we weren't able to do in the past.

The cons of technology are that some people use it way to much and it affects the way they do things and how they perform in certain things. People who use technology have access to many different websites and apps so they tend to lose focus on what they really need to do and try to double task, but instead of doing a good job on one thing they "Half a** two things".

I use technology to get my homework done and to do research for projects that I don't know much about or need to know more about, but then there are times when I use it to much and I lose focus on the important things and it causes me to only do decent on both things.

Hot Topics 2k16

Talking about things that are hot topics and popular right now in the world isn't to hard, because there are so many things that people like and or love. The first thing im going to talk about is the Golden State Warriors. This was a team that was never really talked about until they got a young man by the name of Stephen Curry. Now this team is on all sports shows, radio stations, magazines, you name it they're probably on it. They use all three kinds of social currency, but mainly remarkable. This is the one and only team to beat the 95'-96' Chicago Bulls record and has Stephen Curry who is loved and liked by so many because he can shoot the ball extremely well.

Next I will talk about the Ferrari. This car uses insider as it's social currency, because the car is so expensive that everyone can buy one, so the people that have them feel like in a class of their own. It is also remarkable because of they uniqueness of the car. Its power, look, features, everything about the car is different and has some incredible features.

Last but not least.. Kobe Bryant. I'm using him as an example, because he just retired and is one of the best basketball players of all time. The social currency used for him is remarkable, because of everything he was bale to do on the court. He won multiple championships, set many records, brought the same playing style that Michael Jordan had and was able to be extremely successful.

You BIRGing? You CORFing?

So thinking about the discussion we had in class and the video I made the connection that the fans displayed BIRGing, because every time the team won, especially their state championships the fans and parents would wear the teams apparel, say "we won" even though it was the team that did and not them. I also found an example of CORFing in the video that I thought went with what we discussed in class. When a player would get hurt the parents, coaches, and teammates would say the other team cheated or try to find a reason how it happened or if they lost they would make up some excuse as to why they did. They would never say the other team played better or had the better day. Another example of BIRGing is their pregame rituals. They are doing things before a game that they believe will help them win.

Fourth and Long

FOOTBALL!!! Today is the United States we pay so much attention to sports. Especially football. The sport that is filled with violent hits, extravagant plays, and loud cheering fans, but is this all it is?
Football is one of the most watched sports in the world and has been around for a very long time, but why was it invented, who was it invented for, why do we still play? In my opinion football has become all about the player, but not for good reasons. Now a days players seem to only be looking out for themselves and wanting what's best for them, but yes, in some ways they care immensely about their teammates. What I mean by they care more about themselves is some of the players care more about how they perform than if their team wins or not. They just want to look good and get the most attention so maybe they'll make it to the next level. In the NFL players are starting to care more about the money than the actual sport. They play the game they "love", but in the end they are only thinking about the paycheck that they get from it. Players are now asking to be paid more money in one year than some people make in a lifetime. For instance, Joe Flacco of the Baltimore Ravens was given a 6 year $120,000,000 contract after winning the Super Bowl. Now why in the hell do you need to make $20,000,000 a year? Did you choose to play the game because you loved it or because you wanted the paycheck?
Drawbacks of focusing so much on football is that sometimes we leave behind things that matter like education. Also we spend to much money on things like stadiums, uniforms, concession stands, etc. Why don't we put this money towards other things? Now don't get me wrong. I am a huge football fan and love watching it and playing it, I just think that we have some things that we need to focus on other than football.
Also we need to put more money towards research for better equipment that can protect the players better from injuries. Concussions are huge issues in football and can later on lead to the person having brain injuries and potentially dying.
It's an amazing sport I love. We just need to rethink some things and also get back to the roots of playing the game for the love of it, not the money or rewards.

Wedding Bells

In the video we watched in class there was a women named Deborah that wanted to have a wedding that would resemble the wedding of Princes Diana. She was obsessed with having a wedding like hers and even said that Diana was next her on her wedding day and that they had a talk the day before. Going back to the reading it makes me think about how at first weddings weren't expensive and they didn't need high class dresses to get married. Deborah defies that buy wanting to have a wedding after a women was rich and of high class. She talks about how she lost like 30 pounds just so she could order a smaller dress and look better on her wedding day.
The same can be said for Crystal. In the video her price range for her dress or should I say dresses is $14,000. That is a very large amount of money for a dress that you are only going to wear once in your entire life and then put it away forever. She in no way needs to spend that much money, but she wants to have the dress of her dreams, but at the same time she wants to try and please her man.She talks to the dress maker and she brings up a plan of just making a skirt for the dress so she doesn't need to buy another dress because she doesn't have the money to do so. The skirt actually cost $8,000, but the dress maker wants her to be as happy as can be and have the wedding of her dream so she cuts the price in half that is still $4,000. She ends up exceeding her limit but she pays the amount anyway to get the dress and the skirt. In the reading "The Rise of the Lavish Wedding" it talks about how they use to only pay around $500 for the whole wedding, but now they are paying thousands. To be exact the average wedding costs $27,000. Apparently marrying the person you love isn't enough nowadays. You need to have the perfect dress, venue, food, etc. I understand it's one of the best and most important days of your life, but do you really need to spend that much money on the dress?
